A looooong time ago I used to program games and things like that. Think back to the times before Unity, when OpenGL ruled the roost and DirectX was a mess. I dabbled, never really made a game but toyed with level editors, sprites, input, and general gamey things. No complete game ever materialised. It was interesting and fun though.

Now my little brain decides that "hey look at these games, and there's all these mature engines now, perhaps we could..." Yes yes alright, I'll take a look. To keep it short: I am now learning Godot. Not so much longer ago I did play around with Unity (before the whole licensing fiasco) I tried some 3d games and although I had some working mechanics, never really finsihed anything either. Because making 3d games is a lot of work if you want to make all the models etc, or costly if you are paying people for it. I know there's cheap packs etc, but I wanted to do this super low budget :D

I've been playing around with Godot for a few days now and I have to say it's lovely. I'm following some tutorials and I am amazed how quickly you can get some working things together (pre-polish phase). Therefore I am just exploring tutorials and learning how things are done and who knows, maybe a little platformer or rpg game will emerge from the other end.

Either way, the journey will be fun, interesting, at times frustrating, but a good learning experience.
